Donna's Bunny Collar

Donna's Bunny Collar, originally uploaded by WhimsyBeading.

So the humans are doing their Christmas thing. To make it extra special, Ms. Whimsy Beading found this ojime rabbit charm for her sister, and Mr. Whimsy Beading made a necklace out of it. They presented it to her tonight, along with all the fabulous goodies they got at the Bluegrass Etsy Street Team Meet 'n' Swap two weeks ago.

Neither one of them has put anything in MY stocking, I'd like to point out.

Empress Anna

Behold the Empress Anna (and part of Ms. Whimsy Beading's first tattoo), one of the latest of Mr. Whimsy Beading's collars.

Extreme closeup!

This sucker's something to see. It's got over 400 of those expensive sparkly crystals that Ms. Whimsy Beading likes so much, and over 200 glass pearls! I've seen show horses with less bling on that this collar, and boy isn't Ms. Whimsy Beading as proud as a peacock to model it. Ms. Whimsy Beading demands he make her a "steampunk one next!" He didn't argue. He's a smart man, that Mr. Whimsy Beading.

RockLove's Halloween Giveaway!

Ms. Whimsy Beading, she comes to me this morning and says "Hey, you bite-sized pile of undercooked haggis, aren't you going to tell your readers about the RockLove Halloween Jewelry Giveaway at Haute Macabre? I promised them you would."

She promised them. Isn't she sweet? It's MY hooves getting the damage from this blasted keyboard, you ambulatory monkey!

Still, one mustn't bite the hand that gives the clover, or at least if you do, look really sheepish (get it?!) and look sorry. Works every time. I've even got the humans all upset about the "Eat Angus" promotion from McDonald's. For the record, I don't want anybody to eat me. I'd probably taste terrible.

Anyway, go check out the fabulous giveaway from RockLove and Haute Macabre and enter to win!

Tea with the Humans

Mr. and Ms. Whimsy Beading are creatures of varied and incongruous tastes. It's a mixture of the exquisite and the horribly trashy with these two, like an opera performed at a monster truck rally.

Sometimes, though, they manage to go places that don't offend my sophisticated sensibilities. Like the fabulous Greentree Tea Room in Lexington, KY. The Whimsy Beadings have a standing tea date with another couple once a month.

This last time, they took me along, so I could class up the joint with my wonderful presence and savoir faire.

Here I am arriving for our reservation:

I examine the menu with the eye of a true gourmand...

...and Ms. Whimsy Beading says my stinky hide is stinky enough (really! How dare she! I used her favorite soap to wash up!), so she didn't give me any of her soup.

I did get some of her oatmeal scone, some of her frittata (She gave me the mini corn for good table manners. It was yummy.), and the nice gentlemen servers made sure I had my own cup of tea. No lemon, though. Can't abide lemon in a good Earl Grey tea.

After that, the buffet course was called. I decided to mooch some food from Mr. Whimsy Beading, so I moved in on his plate of tea sandwiches. I liked the Harvest Vegetable Pinwheel best, but the humans both liked the Olive Nut sandwich best.

I got some of Ms. Whimsy Beading's Pumpkin Roll, but what I liked best of the buffet desserts was the Bourbon Chocolate Pots de Creme.

Last, but certainly not least, each diner was served their own Hot Apple Spice Cake.
Ms. Whimsy Beading asked for a doggie bag to take hers home. I wrote "Angus Bag" on it when she wasn't looking. I don't think she fell for it, though.

If you're in the Lexington, KY area, make Greentree Tea Room a stop on your itinerary. Who knows? You might just see me there, examining the charming antiques, or having a nice game to pass the time before the next fabulous repast.

Save me a scone!

Lindsey's Leaves

Behold Lindsey's Leaves, or rather Lindsey's Leaf. This is the other iridescent copper leaf that Ms. Whimsy Beading snatched out of some unsuspecting customer's hand picked up at the Rings and Things bead show.

The bead spiral is connected to two herringbone stitched "cables" with meticulous care (she's making me say this, but if "meticulous" means "human cursing like sailor" then meticulous it is) through two crystal bicones.

Mr. Whimsy Beading's Collar

Ms. Whimsy Beading says I talk about her too much in this blog. That I need to talk about something else for a change, and stop harping about how much clover I'm not getting, or she'll make me into the world's tiniest, most ingrateful sweater.

She's a wonderful woman, really she is. Since I am such a good spokesram, I will abide by her wishes and talk about someone else for a while.

Mr. Whimsy Beading.

Mr. Whimsy Beading has been learning to make beaded "lace" collars. Here is his first collar.

These humans, always up to something new, I tell you.

Fall's Glory

Ms. Whimsy Beading can be such a selfish creature. Why, just the other weekend at the big bead show hoedown, she found this metal plated maple leaf. It was all shiny and copper colored and Ms. Whimsy Beading started to salivate and make that noise in the back of her throat that sounds like "squee" but doesn't quite make it. Then I think she threatened to kill someone else who was looking at the same leaf pendant, but she swears she really didn't, or at least she didn't mean to say it out loud. She says that if I value my clover and my hide, I'll assure you fine people that she never said any such thing, and you can't argue with that. At least, I'm not going to argue with it.

Well, I guess the leaf just wasn't shiny enough for her. So she got a bunch of those little pointy crystal beads and a bunch of other tiny beads, then she dithered with Mr. Whimsy Beading for a while, talking about things like color composition and the "feel of the piece" and a bunch of other artsy stuff that just means she couldn't make up her human mind. Then finally she found what she wanted, and she made this:

Looks like fall to me, how about you folks?

Spiderwebs Pendant

The Whimsy Beadings went to the big Rings & Things hoedown up in Cincinnati last weekend. Among the treasures to be had was a strand of spiderweb agate that Ms. Whimsy Beading just had to have. Seriously, people, she was clutching it to her like it was a little puppy or something.

After they got home and fed all the horrible felines, canines and yours truly, Mrs. Whimsy Beading set about making a pendant of the type she'd been admiring for so long, using the aforementioned spiderweb agate and some red "velvet quartz" beads she had left over from raiding Mr. Whimsy Beading's stash a while back. She added some sterling silver spacers, a sterling eye pin and some sterling silver choker chain and called it good.

What do you think, folks? Is it good?

Hah, get it? Get it? Oh, I kill me. And come to think of it, Ms. Whimsy Beading says she's going to kill me if I make one more bad pun, so here's the Etsy listing! C'mon. You know you want to click. It's not like I'm asking for blood here.

Ms. Whimsy Beading's Ruby Bracelet

Ruby Bracelet, originally uploaded by WhimsyBeading.

Ms. Whimsy Beading finished this bracelet last night, cursing all the while because she kept stabbing herself in the finger with her beading needle. She and Mr. Whimsy Beading were just as pleased as punch how this turned out and the button they got for the clasp. I have to admit, it's pretty eye catching.

So I ask you other humans, was it worth poking that many holes in your fingers? Was it worth my clover ration being late? Because it was late. Very, very late. How's a growing spokesram supposed to grow if I don't get any clover, I ask you?

*sigh* Humans.

The Infamous Angel Lariat

Angel-Lariat, originally uploaded by WhimsyBeading.

Ms. Whimsy Beading, when she wasn't, what did she call it? Oh, yes "Leave me alone, you overgrown Q-tip, I'm dying of plague" - well, when she wasn't doing that, she was watching a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and getting all weepy in her silly human way over two of the humans in the series. Well, one of 'em looked like a human anyway, and he was being all nasty to the blond female human and everyone was all mopey and sad.

So she made a necklace named after the guy, though she swears it isn't REALLY named after the guy, it just turned out that way. I'm not even going to try to understand that logic. Anyway, here's the necklace she made. She never did die of plague, either.

Drops of Mercury

Ms. Whimsy Beading is just as happy as she can be today. After searching, pulling her hair out and never finding the "just right" bead for her "Drops of Mercury" necklace, she says she's finally found them.

I've got to admit, they are really pretty beads. Not as pretty as me, but you know, nice.

This necklace is already spoken for, but I'm sure there will be more on the way.
